In 2016, Germany's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 6.7% compared to 2015, reaching 17.6%.
The figure is above the EU-27 average of 14.3%.
Germany ranks 10th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 23.9% (from 14.2% in 2011).
