In 2011, Germany's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 2.4% compared to 2010, reaching 16.8%.
The figure is below the EU-27 average of 17.6%.
Germany ranks 12th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 29.2% (from 13.0% in 2006).
