In 2000, Ireland's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 5.0% compared to 1999, reaching 21.0%.

Ireland ranks 2nd out of 21 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 5.0% (from 20.0% in 1995).
