Prison population (total)

In 2016, Latvia's prison population (total) decreased by 3.8% compared to 2015, reaching 4,243.

Latvia ranks 17th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 35.3% (from 6,561 in 2011).
