In 2013, Portugal's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 4.5% compared to 2012, reaching 18.7%.
The figure is above the EU-27 average of 16.8%.
Portugal ranks 9th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 1.1% (from 18.5% in 2008).
