In 2019, Sweden's prison population (adults) increased by 9.9% compared to 2018, reaching 6,695.

Sweden ranks 14th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 15.5% (from 5,795 in 2014).
