BLUEPRINT to a Circular Economy

WRAP 2015 estimates that the transition to a circular economy (CE) across Europe will create up to 3million new jobs and reduce unemployment by 520,000. With 400,000 new jobs expected in FR (Club of Rome 2016) and 500,000 in the UK (WRAP 2015). These will mainly be new jobs from increased recycling, revenue logistics and secondary markets. If local authorities (LAs) get their CE strategy right, they can align CE growth with opportunities to generate new jobs for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. About the Research, technological development and innovation objective

Thematic Objective 1 of the 2014–2020 Cohesion period funds research, technological development and innovation. It supports R&D infrastructure, technology transfer, business-academia partnerships and pilot lines that close the gap between scientific discovery and market application across EU regions.

Co-funding: the EU contributes €3.8M toward a total project cost of €5.6M — a co-funding rate of 69%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
