Electrification of section Kaišiadorys-Klaipėda (Friendship St.). Phase II
The aim of the project is to modernise the railway system infrastructure of the Kaišiadorys-Klaipėda (Draugystės st.) section of corridor IXB of the trans-European transport network by adapting it to electric traction train traffic, to reduce the use of fossil fuels in the railway transport sector and thus to increase the efficiency of rail transport operations and reduce the negative impact on the environment.
Co-funding: the EU contributes €82.5M toward a total project cost of €123.2M — a co-funding rate of 67%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
