Development and demonstration of an innovative two-stage blast furnace gas purification technology that meets the assumptions of minimising the amount of waste generated in the form of sludges, increasing the degree of reuse of dust and meeting technological requirements for further energy management of blast furnace gas.

The result of the project is a demonstration technology that has a positive impact on the environment through a cleaner production process of iron iron with simultaneous energy recovery of blast furnace gas pressure. As a result, there will be a solution leading to: first of all: reduce the volume of waste generated in the form of sludge, and secondly: increase the energy efficiency of the blast furnace process. In order to increase the efficiency of dust removal ArcelorMittal Poland S.A intends to use a modern cyclone to replace the static dust collector with approx. 85 % (I degree of purifi…

About the Research, technological development and innovation objective

Thematic Objective 1 of the 2014–2020 Cohesion period funds research, technological development and innovation. It supports R&D infrastructure, technology transfer, business-academia partnerships and pilot lines that close the gap between scientific discovery and market application across EU regions.

Co-funding: the EU contributes €9.4M toward a total project cost of €23.1M — a co-funding rate of 41%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.

Kohesio is the European Commission's open-data platform for projects co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund Plus, the Cohesion Fund and the Just Transition Fund. It draws on lists of beneficiaries published by national managing authorities and harmonises them into a single EU-wide view.
