RAPP-ID Development of RApid Point-of-Care test Platforms for Infectious Diseases

Coordinator: JANSSEN PHARMACEUTICA NV (BE)

RAPP-ID (“Development of RApid Point-of-Care test Platforms for Infectious Diseases”) will develop a Point-of-Care Test (POCT) for rapid (hospital <2h, primary care <30min) detection of bacteria, mycobacteria, fungi, as well as viruses and host biomarkers by combining novel specific probes, novel methods of sample preparation, and demonstrated ultra-high sensitive detection methods. The platforms will also determine resistance to antimicrobial drugs. The research will focus on the biomarkers and pathogens involved in 1) Sepsis, 2) Lower Respiratory Tract Infections (LRTI), including Community…

About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.

Co-funding: the European Union contributes €6.8M toward a total project budget of €15.9M — a funding rate of 43%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 5.5 years from 2011-04-01 to 2016-09-30.
