VAKA2007 2007 Researchers Night in Iceland

Coordinator: RANNSOKNAMIDSTOD ISLANDS (IS)

In order to reach its goal of becoming the most competitive and dynamic knowledge based economy in the world, devoting an average of 3% of the member states’ annual GDP to R&D, the EU requires large numbers of new researchers entering the labour market in coming years. The European Commission has concluded that there is a need to raise public awareness about the role of researchers in society and attract more young people into scientific careers in order to ensure the availability of adequate human resources for the future. This proposal incorporates Iceland into the 2007 Researchers’ Night -…

About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.

Co-funding: the European Union contributes €70k toward a total project budget of €108k — a funding rate of 65%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 0.4 years from 2007-07-01 to 2007-11-30.
