Citizens are increasingly being asked to deal with socio-scientific issues and make informed decisions on the basis of scientific data. At the same time, there is disconcert with the current status of science education, a disconcert that relates to issues such as student motivation, educational curricula, existing tools, as well as how to best support teachers in adopting new learning and teaching practices. About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)
The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.
Co-funding: the European Union contributes €769k toward a total project budget of €916k — a funding rate of 84%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 3 years from 2008-03-01 to 2011-02-28.
