ALGGENOMES Algorithms for Analysis of Genes and Genomes

Coordinator: UNIVERZITA KOMENSKEHO V BRATISLAVE (SK)

In this project, we propose to develop new algorithms and probabilistic models for analysis of biological sequences (genomes and proteins encoded by them). We concentrate mainly on computer science aspects, striving to design efficient algorithms capable of processing large biological data sets currently available. In collaboration with molecular biologists, we will apply our techniques to several bioinformatics problems, such as finding location of genes in genomic sequences, evolution of duplicated regions of the genome, and study of mitochondrial genomes of yeast. About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.

EU contribution: €100k awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 4 years from 2009-01-15 to 2013-01-14.
