SYSTEM_US Systems Biology of Human Metabolism

Coordinator: HASKOLI ISLANDS (IS)

Whole-genome sequences and their annotation have enabled the reconstruction of genome-scale metabolic networks. Such network reconstructions form the foundation for systems analysis of metabolic functions in health and disease. Over the past ten years, a series of genome-scale reconstructions have been built for microorganisms. They have been demonstrated to be useful for developing a deeper understanding of physiological processes, drive discovery through computer generated hypothesis relating to missing parts of a network, to interpret the consequences of gene knock outs, and for metabolic …

About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.

EU contribution: €2.4M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 5.5 years from 2009-03-01 to 2014-08-31.
