NEWTBVAC Discovery and preclinical development of new generation tuberculosis vaccines
Coordinator: STICHTING TUBERCULOSIS VACCINE INITIATIVE (NL)
With 14.4 million prevalent cases and 1.7 million deaths tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the most serious infectious diseases to date. An estimated 2 billion people are believed to be infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis and at risk of developing disease. Multi- and extensively drug resistant strains are increasingly appearing in many parts of the world, including Europe. Much more effective measures, particula…
About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)
The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.
EU contribution: €12.0M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 4.2 years from 2010-01-01 to 2014-02-28.
