The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MBG) was the first national department to initiate research in its field. Founded in 1977, MBG rapidly established a reputation for excellence in research on human genetic disease and in the past significantly contributed to the education of many successful scientists pursuing science on national and international levels. In the course of recent years research topics at MBG further developed and now focus particularly on subjects of neurodegenerative and rare disease, developmental neurobiology and cancer. About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)
The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.
Co-funding: the European Union contributes €1.1M toward a total project budget of €1.2M — a funding rate of 89%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 4 years from 2009-12-01 to 2013-11-30.
