SPINMET Spin related phenomena in mesoscopic transport

Coordinator: HASKOLI ISLANDS (IS)

The rapid progress of nanotechnology made possible the realization of nano-devices in which the motion of the carriers obeys the laws of quantum mechanics. They offer a unique laboratory for study of fundamental quantum effects, such as entanglement, topological phase and new states of matter arising from many- body correlations. Besides, mesoscopic objects can serve as components of the electronic and optoelectronic devices of new generation. In this perspective the study spin related phenomena is of particular importance as use of the spin degree of freedom opens a way to practical realizat…

About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.

EU contribution: €396k awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 4 years from 2010-06-01 to 2014-05-31.
