INNOVABALT Strengthening the research and innovation capacities of the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis, the leading Baltic regional centre for drug discovery
Coordinator: LATVIJAS ORGANISKAS SINTEZES INSTITUTS (LV)
The general objectives of the InnovaBalt project are to improve multidisciplinary research capacities and strengthen the management of intellectual property and human resources for innovative drug discovery at the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis (LIOS). LIOS is the leading regional research centre for drug discovery, which consists of organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry and the pharmaceutical development of compounds designed for the treatment of cancer, cardiovascular diseases and CNS disorders. LIOS has a clear vision of its mission, which is to develop sustained research activiti…
About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)
The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.
Co-funding: the European Union contributes €4.7M toward a total project budget of €5.3M — a funding rate of 89%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 3.5 years from 2013-09-01 to 2017-02-28.
