FABRIC FeAsiBility analysis and development of on-Road chargIng solutions for future electric vehiCles

Coordinator: EREVNITIKO PANEPISTIMIAKO INSTITOUTO SYSTIMATON EPIKOINONION KAI YPOLOGISTON (EL)

FABRIC addresses directly the technological feasibility, economic viability and socio-environmental of dynamic on-road charging of electric vehicles.FABRIC responds to the need to assess the potential and feasibility of a more extensive integration of electric vehicles in the mobility and transportation system, focusing primarily on dynamic wireless charging which would allow practically all of the drawbacks of on-board battery packs to be avoided. On-road charging would also enable the direct link to renewable energy sources: Ultimately this is the only way to fully decarbonise road transpor…

About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.

EU contribution: €6.5M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 4.5 years from 2014-01-01 to 2018-06-30.
