ERA4TB EUROPEAN REGIMEN ACCELERATOR FOR TUBERCULOSIS

Coordinator: UNIVERSIDAD CARLOS III DE MADRID (ES)

The European Regimen Accelerator for Tuberculosis (ERA4TB) has the explicit goal of developing a new combination therapy to treat all forms of TB starting from ~20 leads and drug candidates provided by EFPIA. Since details of these are as yet unavailable, we will implement an agile drug development algorithm that entails profiling and portfolio construction. Profiling involves characterisation and ranking molecules in preclinical studies comprising in vitro drug combination assays, hollow fiber and single cell analysis, innovative murine and non-human primate models, PK/PD studies, combined w…

About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)

Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.

Co-funding: the European Union contributes €89.8M toward a total project budget of €208.0M — a funding rate of 43%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 7 years from 2020-01-01 to 2026-12-31.
