COFRICTION Optimization of the corrosion resistance of Friction Stir Welds in High Strenght Aluminium Alloys

This project will seek to establish the corrosion mechanism of friction stir welds in 7075 alloy and develop technical solutions and guidelines for improving the corrosion resistance of FSW welds in 7075 alloy. These objectives will be achieved through FSW process optimisation, mechanical testing, corrosion testing and microstructure characterisation. FSW welding trails will be carried out to develop procedures for achieving high quality welds in 7075 alloy and establish the effects of process parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the weld. About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)
The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.
