In 2019, Malta's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 9.1% compared to 2018, reaching 27.7%.
The figure is above the EU-27 average of 16.0%.
Malta ranks 6th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 62.9% (from 17.0% in 2014).
