Persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex

In 2023, Malta's persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex decreased by 1.5% compared to 2022, reaching 19.8%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 21.3%.

Malta ranks 14th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 3.1% (from 19.2% in 2018).
