Improving the availability of electronic communication infrastructure in rural areas
The aim of the project is to build an optical network infrastructure (‘average mile’) in rural areas of the Republic of Latvia where no electronic communications business provides and does not plan to provide internet access services with improved data transmission parameters within the next three years, using broadband access networks consisting wholly or partly of optical fibre elements and providing data transmission speeds to at least 30 Mbit/s (hereinafter – “white” areas), by improving the availability of electronic communications networks for users in rural areas, to create at least an…
About the Information and communication technologies objective
Thematic Objective 2 finances information and communication technologies — broadband roll-out, e-government, e-health, digital skills and the digitisation of public services. It targets the digital divide between EU regions in the 2014–2020 period.
Co-funding: the EU contributes €42.3M toward a total project cost of €49.7M — a co-funding rate of 85%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
Kohesio is the European Commission's open-data platform for projects co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund Plus, the Cohesion Fund and the Just Transition Fund. It draws on lists of beneficiaries published by national managing authorities and harmonises them into a single EU-wide view.
