LosBonasus — Crossing! Improving cross-border wildlife management for widows and moose

Elk and Wisent once roamed through the forests of Europe. Habitat loss, hunting and poaching led to the eradication of the widow in Poland and Germany, few elks were able to survive in the Polish forests. Breeding and reinstatement programmes as well as improved protection regulations contributed to the slow recovery of both species’ stocks in Poland, which are increasingly finding their way to Germany.
