The district of North Frisia and the municipality of Tønder are facing similar challenges to other rural regions in relation to the labour market and employment. This is due to their infrastructural, regional and demographic structures. Surveys conducted in South Jutland in 2014 show that only 24% of respondents still regard it as offering good job opportunities. The Fact Book 2016 describes similar trends for the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein. Thematic Objective 8 supports sustainable and quality employment — youth-employment initiatives, active labour-market policies, self-employment incentives, modernisation of public-employment services.
Co-funding: the EU contributes €1.6M toward a total project cost of €2.6M — a co-funding rate of 60%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
