The objective of the project is the acquisition and commissioning (based on competitively awarded CSP contracts) of 37 EMU-type trains serving 13 routes in Romania, New Rolling Stock will serve the most important electrified routes (all except for a small subsection between Brasov and Ciceu on the TEN-T, and most of them - about 80% of the Central Network. Thematic Objective 7 funds sustainable transport and network infrastructure: TEN-T core-network completion, rail electrification, urban mobility, ports and inland-waterway upgrades.
Co-funding: the EU contributes €51.5M toward a total project cost of €60.6M — a co-funding rate of 85%, with the remainder covered by national, regional or private sources.
