ODYSSEUS PREVENTING, COUNTERING, AND INVESTIGATING TERRORIST ATTACKS THROUGH PROGNOSTIC, DETECTION, AND FORENSIC MECHANISMS FOR EXPLOSIVE PRECURSORS

Coordinator: INSTITUT PO OTBRANA (BG)

ODYSSEUS aims to increase the knowledge on explosive precursors and homemade explosives (HMEs), including precursors not previously studied, and develop effective and efficient prognostic, detection, and forensic tools to improve the capabilities of LEAs towards the prevention, countering, and investigation of terrorist incidents involving HMEs. ODYSSEUS will build upon relevant previous projects mainly HOMER, through the involvement ofHOMER’s core partners in this consortium, and will thus continue the work already done in HOMER on some precursors and further extend it to not previously stud…

About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)

Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.

EU contribution: €5.0M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 3.2 years from 2021-10-01 to 2024-11-30.
