e-CODUCT Fast-response Electrically heated catalytic reactor technology for CO2 reDUCTion

Coordinator: UNIVERSITEIT GENT (BE)

The e-CODUCT project aims at electrifying the simultaneous chemical conversion acid gas components (CO2 and H2S) into the platform molecule CO and marketable sulphur using an electrothermal fluidised bed reactor (ETFB) technology. The corresponding process will comprise two steps: a first one for CO2 and H2S reduction into COS and a second step for COS decomposition into the platform molecule CO and Claus grade sulphur. To demonstrate its valorisation potential, CO will be converted into green methanol as final product using a third reaction. The e-CODUCT consortium is composed of nine entiti…

About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)

Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT). It also funds five EU Missions targeting cancer, climate adaptation, smart cities, oceans and soils.

EU contribution: €7.0M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 3.5 years from 2022-09-01 to 2026-02-28.
