The emergence of complex urban mobility environments where unknown interactions between different types of vulnerable road users (VRUs) and between VRUs and motorised vehicles poses the need for a clear understanding of user behaviours, fair and optimised use of public spaces as well as age friendly urban safety action plans and assessments, capitalising on the benefits that technological innovations and the plethora of available data can offer in advanced accident analysis, towards achieving EU’s ‘Vision Zero’ for zero fatalities in road transport by 2050. About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)
Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT). It also funds five EU Missions targeting cancer, climate adaptation, smart cities, oceans and soils.
