LiWeFoR LiWeFor: Living labs for Wetland Forest research

The main aim of the LiWeFor is to establish and develop a global network of Living Labs of wetland forest research, education and management. The project team consists of the University of Helsinki and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology as top-class research counterparts and the University of Tartu as the recipient. As a driving vehicle of the project, four joint field campaigns to global greenhouse gas emission hotspots in tropical wetland forest regions (Peru and Malaysia) will enforce educational knowledge transfer. About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)
Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT). It also funds five EU Missions targeting cancer, climate adaptation, smart cities, oceans and soils.
EU contribution: €1.5M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 3 years from 2023-01-01 to 2025-12-31.
