SOLINDARITY SOLar-driven INDustrial power And heat upgRaded with hIgh-temperature heaT pumps for enhanced integrated process efficiencY

Coordinator: ETHNIKO KENTRO EREVNAS KAI TECHNOLOGIKIS ANAPTYXIS (EL)

SOLINDARITY will develop, demonstrate and validate the feasibility of an integrated Solar Energy-based Heat Upgrade System (SEHUS) comprising solar energy resources, innovative High Temperature Heat Pumps (HTHP), Thermal Energy Storage (TES) and Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) for the deep decarbonization of industrial processes with temperatures up to 280°C. The solar energy resources include High Vacuum Flat solar Panels (HVFPs) for pressurized hot water generation at a temperature of up to 150°C with high performance Photovoltaic (PV) panels with trackers and special nanocoatings, that (apart fr…

About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)

Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT). It also funds five EU Missions targeting cancer, climate adaptation, smart cities, oceans and soils.

EU contribution: €7.0M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 4 years from 2024-01-01 to 2027-12-31.
