ELECTROLIFE ENHANCE KNOWLEDGE ON COMPREHENSIVE ELECTROLYSERS TECHNOLOGIES DEGRADATION THROUGH MODELING, TESTING AND LIFETIME PREVISION, TOWARD INDUSTRIAL IMPLEMENTATION

Coordinator: POLITECNICO DI TORINO (IT)

The ELECTROLIFE project aims to be a booster to enable the use of green hydrogen technologies to support decarbonization of European global industry. Currently, electrolysis technologies suffer from limitations in terms of cost, efficiency, stability, scalability, and recyclability. This is mainly due to the lack of understanding and identification of electrolyzer degradation mechanisms and improvement of current cell performance. ELECTROLIFE aims to increase the efficiency performance of electrolyzers by reducing the use of critical materials and extending the useful life of these systems. T…

About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)

Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT). It also funds five EU Missions targeting cancer, climate adaptation, smart cities, oceans and soils.

EU contribution: €10.0M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 5 years from 2024-01-01 to 2028-12-31.
