ASVA-CGR Algorithms for Structural Variation Analysis in Challenging Genomic Regions

Coordinator: UNIVERZITA KOMENSKEHO V BRATISLAVE (SK)

Structural variations are genomic alterations affecting portions of the chromosomes longer than 50 base pairs. These alterations are a main contributing factor to human diseases and different types of cancer. The main limitation of current approaches for the analysis of structural variations lies in their unreliability in characterizing these alterations in repetitive and hard-to-call regions of the genome. Structural variations falling in these regions can not be routinely detected and their significance is still unknown. In this proposal, we aim to develop novel computational approaches to a…

About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)

Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT). It also funds five EU Missions targeting cancer, climate adaptation, smart cities, oceans and soils.

The project runs over approximately 2 years from 2024-09-01 to 2026-08-31.
