MemoSniff Every smell you take – Smell-induced conditioning of the immune system during infections
Coordinator: SVEUCILISTE U RIJECI, MEDICINSKI FAKULTET (HR)
The nervous and immune systems are the body’s primary sensory interfaces, perceiving and responding to environmental stimuli. Both systems can recall past challenges, enabling them to mount responses that anticipate and adapt to ever-changing situation.Recent research indicates that the brain can recall past infections, forming a new axis between neurological memory and immune response. A notable example of such interaction is Pavlovian or classical conditioning, where organisms learn the timing and causal relationships between internal and external stimuli, enabling them to prepare responses…
About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)
Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT). It also funds five EU Missions targeting cancer, climate adaptation, smart cities, oceans and soils.
