AtSpecTS Atmosphere Spectroscopy using Terahertz Sensors dedicated to quantum cascade laser sensing

Coordinator: VALSTYBINIS MOKSLINIU TYRIMU INSTITUTAS FIZINIU IR TECHNOLOGIJOS MOKSLU CENTRAS (LT)

The project AtSpecTS (Atmosphere Spectroscopy using Terahertz Sensors dedicated to quantum cascade laser sensing) aims o develop a compact, disruptive spectroscopic gas sensor technology for the 2–5 THz range, utilizing advanced field-effect transistor (FET) technology and offer QCL users a new compact and cost-effective solution for atmosphere research. Atmospheric gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and atomic oxygen are critical in greenhouse effects, chemical reactions, and energy regulation. Spectroscopy enables precise detection of these gases by analyzing their absorptio…

About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)

Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT). It also funds five EU Missions targeting cancer, climate adaptation, smart cities, oceans and soils.

The project runs over approximately 2 years from 2025-09-01 to 2027-08-31.
