ORBITO Oral biopharmaceutics tools
Coordinator: ASTRAZENECA AB (SE)
The OrBiTo project will deliver novel methods and a framework for rational application of predictive biopharmaceutics tools for oral drug delivery. This will be achieved through novel propsective studies to define new methodlogies which will be validated using historical datasets from EFPIA partners. A combination of high quality in vitro or in silico characterizations of API and formulations will be integrated into physiologically based in silico models capturing the full complexity of oral drug absorption. This approach will drive model based pharmaceutical product development in accordance…
About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)
The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.
Co-funding: the European Union contributes €9.0M toward a total project budget of €25.3M — a funding rate of 36%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 6 years from 2012-10-01 to 2018-09-30.
