PERISCOPE PERtussIS COrrelates of Protection Europe - Sofia ref.: 115910

Pertussis vaccines have been very successful in reducing the global burden of pertussis-related disease. However, in the last decade there has been a rise in pertussis incidence, particularly in vaccinated adolescents and adults in industrialized countries. The increased circulation of B. pertussis (Bp) constitutes a risk for transmission to vulnerable infants and older adults. About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)

Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.

Co-funding: the European Union contributes €21.0M toward a total project budget of €29.9M — a funding rate of 70%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 6.5 years from 2016-03-01 to 2022-08-31.
