Despite significant recent progress in the field of hematological malignancies (HMs), with increasing survival rates and improvement in quality of life, many children and adults with HMs still die from these disorders or experience disabling complications. Therefore, improvement of health care of HMs is an unmet medical need. About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)
Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation.
