VSV-EBOPLUS SYSTEMS ANALYSIS OF ADULT AND PEDIATRIC RESPONSES TO THE VSV-ZEBOV EBOLA VACCINE - Sofia ref.: 116068

Coordinator: SCLAVO VACCINES ASSOCIATION (IT)

The vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV)-Zaire Ebola vaccine (VSV-ZEBOV) is a recombinant vector-based vaccine in which the VSV envelope glycoprotein was replaced with the Zaire strain Ebola virus glycoprotein. Within one year of the initiation of its clinical development, the VSV-ZEBOV vaccine has demonstrated safety, immunogenicity and a remarkably high protective efficacy against Ebola Virus Disease, using a high vaccine dose (2x107 pfu) in the WHO-sponsored VSV-ZEBOV ring-vaccination trial in adults in Guinea. About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)

Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.

Co-funding: the European Union contributes €8.6M toward a total project budget of €15.4M — a funding rate of 55%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 7 years from 2016-04-01 to 2023-03-31.
