DAC (Dynamic Air Cooling) Breakthrough cold generation technology for efficient & environmentally-friendly cooling.

Coordinator: DAC SPOLKA Z OGRANICZONA ODPOWIEDZIALNOSCIA (PL)

We have developed a new cooling technology based on the principle of adiabatic expansion. Compared to the traditional vapour compression technology: It uses air instead of toxic HFCs to transfer energy, eliminating this source of pollution and therefore reducing CO2e by 50%. In DAC, the energy extracted from the cooled air is not emitted as heat into the atmosphere but turned into electricity unlike in traditional vapor compression AC/refrigeration units. This electricity is used to contribute up to 30% of energy required for powering up our units, hence it is 30% more energy efficient compare…

About Horizon Europe (2021–2027)

Horizon Europe is the EU's current research and innovation programme, covering 2021 to 2027 with a budget of roughly €95.5 billion. Its three pillars are Excellent Science (frontier research and mobility), Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness (mission-driven collaborative projects in health, climate, digital, security and food) and Innovative Europe (the EIC and EIT). It also funds five EU Missions targeting cancer, climate adaptation, smart cities, oceans and soils.

EU contribution: €2.3M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 2.6 years from 2022-07-01 to 2025-01-31.
