QAQC Quantum algorithms and the foundations of quantum computation

Coordinator: LATVIJAS UNIVERSITATE (LV)

Quantum computing (and, more broadly, quantum information science) is a new area at the frontier of both computer science and physics. The laws of quantum mechanics are profoundly different from conventional physics. Quantum computing studies how to use them for the purposes of computer science and information processing. Quantum computing (and, more broadly, quantum infromation science) has seen tremendous progress in the last 15 years, both on its theoretical side (with Shor's quantum algorithm for factoring and Grover's quantum search algorithm) and experimental side (with small scale prot…

About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.

EU contribution: €100k awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 4 years from 2008-05-01 to 2012-04-30.
