BIOSUPPORT Strengthening the University of Plovdiv Research Potential in Plant Systems Biology and Food Biotechnology

Coordinator: PLOVDIVSKI UNIVERSITET PAISIY HILENDARSKI (BG)

Currently, the University of Plovdiv (UoP) and the Faculty of Biology (FoB) is covering a wide field of research activities which can be put under the area of plant systems biology, food testing and biotechnology. It is one of the best performing research organizations in Bulgaria in its field. It hosts very well trained core staff, with researchers that have been serving different trainings and work periods in high level European universities and have good quality publications in peer review international journals. Nevertheless UoP-FoB urgently needs to keep-up with the contemporary science …

About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.

Co-funding: the European Union contributes €2.2M toward a total project budget of €2.5M — a funding rate of 89%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 3.5 years from 2009-12-01 to 2013-05-31.
