3D-LIGHTTRANS Large scale manufacturing technology for high-performance lightweight 3D multifunctional composites

Coordinator: AIT AUSTRIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY GMBH (AT)

The goal of 3D-LightTrans project is to provide groundbreaking, highly flexible and adaptable low-cost technologies for manufacturing of 3D textile reinforced plastic composites (in the following referred to as textile reinforced plastics or TRP), including innovative approaches for the individual processes and its integration in complete manufacturing chains, which will enable to shift them from its current position in cost intensive, small series niche markets, to broadly extended mass product applications, not only in transportation, but also in other key sectors, like health and leisure.T…

About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.

EU contribution: €5.3M awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 4 years from 2011-04-01 to 2015-03-31.
