PlantAgeing Deciphering the regulatory role of reactive oxygen species in plant ageing through an integrative genetics and genomics approach

Coordinator: INSTITUTE OF MOLECULAR BIOLOGY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY (BG)

Plant senescence is a genetically controlled process modulated by environmental factors. A number of genes that influence ageing have been identified over the recent years; while mutations in most of them accelerate senescence, some delay senescence and thus extend lifespan. Experimental evidence strongly indicates that many more genes than functionally characterized so far contribute to the control of plant ageing. Moreover, very little is currently known about how these genes interact and to what extent developmental signals, environmental factors, phytohormones, and in particular the circa…

About Seventh Framework Programme (2007–2013)

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) ran from 2007 to 2013 and was the EU's main research-funding instrument of that period. It mobilised roughly €50 billion across cooperation projects, ERC frontier grants, Marie Curie fellowships, capacity-building actions and Euratom research. FP7 closed to new calls in 2013 but its projects continued for years after under their original grant agreements.

EU contribution: €74k awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 4 years from 2013-11-01 to 2017-10-31.
