The BIORISE project proposal aims at the establishment of a Bioinformatics ERA Chair at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING). CING is currently the most advanced organisation of Cyprus in the fields of Neurology, Genetics and Biomedical Sciences and its research infrastructure is strongly supported by European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) through the Cyprus Directorate General for European Programmes, Coordination and Development. About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)
Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.
