PREPARE Preventing Respiratory Events through Proactive Assessment of Respiratory Effort

The incidence rate of Respiratory Compromise (RC) in hospital settings is 7% in intermediate/general care ward patients (107 million patients) and 30% in step-down postoperative patients (197 Million patients), at an average cost of €16,500 per event. It will cost the EU €31Bn by 2019. PMD’s technology will lead to a 20% reduction in the average patient length of stay, a 10% reduction in unplanned intensive care admissions, and a 5% reduction in liabilities from patient mortality by enabling early intervention of Respiratory Compromise (RC). About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)
Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.
