CosNeD Radio wave propagation in heterogeneous media: implications on the electronics of Cosmic Neutrino Detectors

Coordinator: UNIVERSITATEA POLITEHNICA DIN BUCURESTI (RO)

Detection of cosmic neutrinos can answer very important questions related to some extremely energetic yet unexplained astrophysical sources such as: compact binary stars, accreting black holes, supernovae etc., key elements in understanding the evolution and fate of the Universe. Moreover, these particles carry the highestenergies per particle known to man, impossible to achieve in any present or foreseen man made accelerator devices thus their detection can test and probe extreme high energy physics. One of the newest techniques for measuring high energy cosmic neutrinos regards their radio …

About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)

Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.

EU contribution: €186k awarded to the consortium. The project runs over approximately 2 years from 2016-11-01 to 2018-10-31.
