With the constant growth of population in the world, the demand for electricity is rising. The biggest electricity consumers are buildings. In EU heating and cooling in the buildings and industry accounts for 50% of the EU’s total energy consumption. However, generating electricity from conventional sources of energy increases the greenhouse effect and escalate the environmental problems on Earth. About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)
Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.
Co-funding: the European Union contributes €50k toward a total project budget of €71k — a funding rate of 70%, with the remainder covered by the consortium partners. The project runs over approximately 0.3 years from 2017-11-01 to 2018-02-28.
