Biodiversity genomics is transforming our understanding of biological diversity and leading to new discoveries that can limit biodiversity decline and therefore benefit human societies. Island biotas are highly vulnerable and thus require efficient conservation and sustainable development. About Horizon 2020 (2014–2020)
Horizon 2020 was the EU's flagship research and innovation programme for 2014–2020, with a budget of around €77 billion. It bundled FP7's strands with the EIT and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, introduced a stronger societal-challenge orientation, and pushed the funding logic toward closer-to-market innovation. New calls closed in 2020 but funded projects continued through 2024.
